Otech Corp. has expanded its range of vehicle compounds with the addition of two more polypropylene/EPDM materials.

The Rolling Prairie, Ind., company said one of the new compounds features excellent low temperature resistance and boasts a -90° F brittle temperature. It resists temperature extremes and is long-lived under stressed, high-speed conditions. It is well suited to truck trailer wind skirts, where its oil and abrasion resistance helps vehicle firms comply with new state regulations.

The other new PP/EPDM is a wire-reinforced ductile hose material designed for under-the-hood automotive use. Processability has been improved in this compound.

“These, like all of our custom compounds, meet stringent requirements,” noted Jason Page, Otech’s vice president of operations.

Otech said its low-shear screw design in manufacturing combined with melt-flow additives and lubricants allows efficient production of compounds at lower temperatures and with higher quality.

Also directed at vehicles are new custom compounds for floor mats based on thermoplastic elastomers and thermoplastic rubber.

Otech’s compounds include non-halogenated types made in its 250,000-square-foot facility in Rolling Prairie.
