MUMBAI, INDIA — Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. recently expanded its PVC tubing plant capacity to 200,000 metric tons per year.

“We have added capacity of 35,000 metric tons in October 2013 with an investment of around 25 rupees (about $4 million),” said Anil B. Jain, managing director, in an interview with Plastics News at the recent Vinyl India 2014 conference in Mumbai. “The expansion is in line with increasing demand in the market.”

Jain Irrigation is one of the largest polymer processors in India. The company extrudes and injection molds PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene and engineering resins at its Jalgaon, India, plant.

The company recently booked an order from the massive Ramthal-Marol Integrated Micro Irrigation Project in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. The project will benefit more than 7,000 farmers in 35 villages.

This integrated project involves survey, investigation, planning, designing, supply and execution of a distribution system using high density PE and PVC piping. According to the company, the project will be the largest micro irrigation project of its kind in the world.
