Obituary: Gerald Marceau, Monsanto sales manager

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FLA. — Gerald Marceau, a former district manager in the plastics division of Monsanto Corp., died July 24, He was 100.

Marceau worked in Monsanto’s Chicago office, selling plastics to a wide variety of processors in the Midwest in the 1950s, according to John Clark, a former colleague.

“He was a great boss. He had a wonderful way about him,” Clark said. At Monsanto, they sold vinyl, polystyrene and polyethylene products.

Marceau was born in Springfield, Mass., and he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired to New Smyrna Beach in 1979.

One of his survivors, son Tony, is a sales director at Silgan Plastics LLC. He also is survived by son Peter, four grandsons and one great granddaughter.
